Section 1: What Is Choice and Control?
You Are the Boss
Choice and control means you are the boss of your life and your NDIS support. You decide what goals you want to work on and who comes to help you.
Protected by Australian NDIS Laws
The law says disability providers must listen to you. No worker or agency is allowed to force choices on you or make decisions behind your back.
Section 2: What Is Dignity of Risk?
The Right to Try New Things
Dignity of risk means you have the right to try new activities, make choices, and learn from experience. Making mistakes is a normal part of living life.
Safe Support Without Over-Protection
We help keep you safe from big dangers, but we never use safety as an excuse to stop you from choosing your own path or trying things out.
Section 3: Having Decision Supporters
Bring People You Trust
If making decisions feels overwhelming, you can ask family members, friends, advocates, or supporters to join your meetings and help break down options.
Your Will and Preference Come First
Supporters are there to coach and assist you, not to take over. What you want and feel is always the most important thing in the room.
Section 4: The Three Provider Rule
Always Showing You 3 Choices
When you need a new therapist or service, Steady Guide always shows you at least 3 independent options. We never push you toward a single business.
Zero Kickbacks or Secret Fees
We never accept gifts, payments, or referral money from any service provider. Our advice is 100% independent and focused on you.
Section 5: Words That Are Hard to Understand
- Choice and Control:
- You are the boss of your life and your NDIS plan.
- Dignity of Risk:
- Your right to try new things and learn through lived experience.
- Three Provider Rule:
- Our rule to show you at least 3 independent options so you can choose freely.
- Support Coordinator:
- A person who helps you understand and use your NDIS plan.
Section 6: External Links
These resources are separate. You cannot use NDIS plan money to buy external retail items.
