FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A Steady Guide for Toowoomba Families Navigating Disability Support
TOOWOOMBA, QLD — 10 June 2026 — Steady Guide is launching a groundbreaking approach to disability support, empowering NDIS participants and their families with knowledge. This new venture combines expert support coordination with a dedicated publishing house, producing educational books designed to demystify the NDIS pathway, build long-term independence, and fiercely advocate for the community. This innovative model ensures local Toowoomba families are not just guided through the system, but are fully equipped with the resources and literacy needed to confidently author their own futures.
Located in Kearneys Spring, Steady Guide aims to fill a vital gap in the local market by educating the community about the NDIS and providing enhanced support levels through low caseloads. This two-pronged approach will provide Toowoomba participants and their families with consistent support, clear direction, and better outcomes.
Founded by Toowoomba resident Jenny Mathers, this business is a passion project born from her observation that overwhelmed NDIS workers often experience burnout and leave the sector, and this inevitably means participants lose their experienced workers.
"Disability support can only excel when the worker has the time and energy to explore real community inclusion and capacity building," says Jenny. "A low caseload is just one way to achieve this. The other barrier for participants is the complexity of the NDIS. I founded Steady Guide to return to grassroots support. That's why I'm engaging directly with the community at the Toowoomba Farmers Markets and the SG Sunday Markets, offering participants and families on-the-spot solutions, educational resources, and advice to navigate the NDIS and its many changes."
Steady Guide has established a publishing schedule that will see three new books released this year. The first, "Securing the Future," is set for July/August. This book offers a reflective examination of the draft NDIS Amendment Bill currently being considered, written from the perspective of a support coordinator and former local area coordinator.
The community is invited to grab a coffee and cake from one of the many stalls and visit the Steady Guide stall to discuss "Securing the Future," their NDIS concerns, or to privately discuss their situation and support needs with Jenny. Individual bookings can be made via the website. Steady Guide will appear at the Toowoomba Farmers Market on 13, 20, and 27 June, and at the SG Markets on Baker Street on 14, 21, and 28 June.
